Bringing China’s tech to the international stage at SWITCH 2018.
TechNode launches the inaugural ORIGIN by TechNode to highlight ASEAN-China’s tech scene

As the Asia Pacific region makes plans to congregate in Singapore for the upcoming Singapore Week of Innovation & TeCHnology (SWITCH) 2018, TechNode announces its inaugural content track called ‘ORIGIN by TechNode’ to help regional businesses, governments and China-watchers better understand and unpack the developments and changes in the Chinese tech scene. ORIGIN by TechNode will offer two different content programmes in its inaugural event, the main conference and the VC Meetup, to help bridge the Northeast and Southeast Asian tech ecosystems together. TechNode’s new track will bring much needed insights and analysis to the region, and aims to be an important link in its mission to bridge China to the world.

In the conference section, ORIGIN By TechNode will see many Chinese luminaries and forerunners in the business world take to th e stage, including Mao Daqing, Founder of UCommune, Dr. Lugang, Founder of TechNode, Ms. Daisy Wu, VP of YeahMobi, Mr. Paul Wong, VP of Fung Group Explorium. They will speak on a wide variety of topics ranging from MedTech to FinTech, from Social Gaming to Artificial Intelligence. These conversation topics are specially curated at ORIGIN by TechNode as all have significant developments or importance in the past year. Along with the conference track, ORIGIN by TechNode also will organise its signature VC Meetup, 10-minute quick conversations between investors and startups, to be held in a speed dating format. Startups, venture capitalists and other participants interested in attending ORIGIN by TechNode can purchase ticket s at TechNode’s event page, where they can enjoy special discounts.

“It is important for the greater Asian community to have a voice and greater involvement in the direction of the way these Chinese tech industries develop domestically and internationally, which is why this conference is timely and essential in the current international climate” says Dr LU Gang, Founder and CEO of TechNode. “As China develops, we must adopt an attitude of collaboration rather than competition when dealing with the wider international community. ORIGIN by TechNode will be the first steps in fostering this collaborative attitude.”

“We want to increase transparency and knowledge about China’s tech and development, so that people can better engage their Chinese counterparts and take advantage of the resources and market that China has to offer” Dr. Lu said. “Of course, expanding into China has its unique challenges, and that’s why we’re here to help. Getting useful and timely information and contacts is only the first step for many into China.”

Concurrently taking place is TechNode‘s Asia Hardware Battle, created specially for Hardware Startups from selected APAC countries with a working prototype and a total funding of less than USD 5 million, to battle in a pitch competition and is currently calling for applicants. The Singapore leg of the competition, a fringe partner event of SWITCH, will be held on 21 September 2018 at Jurong Innovation District, 2 Cleantech Loop. The top winner of the Singapore pitch will be flown to the Grand Final competition (airfare and accommodation included) which culminates in Shanghai in mid-October.
